Northern California Junior Achievement Board Chair Receives National Gold Leadership Award

Adrian Dimech wins Junior Achievement’s top volunteer leadership award for empowering students to own their economic succes.

Washington, DC: Junior Achievement of Northern California (JA) announced that Adrian Dimech, the organization’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, has been chosen from among more than 100,000 U.S. volunteers as one of eleven recipients of the organization’s most prestigious national award for volunteerism, the Gold Leadership Award.

Junior Achievement’s Gold Leadership Award honors volunteer excellence, presented in recognition of leadership in supporting and expanding JA’s student impact, resources, operational excellence, and sustainability. The Gold Leadership Awards honor the recipients’ JA volunteer service during the 2022-23 school year.

“Our local business community’s support of JA is critical to achieving our mission, to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in the global economy,” said Cristene Burr, president of Junior Achievement of Northern California. “Adrian Dimech, Vice President of Field Operations, West, at AT&T, is a remarkable example of that spirit of dedication and service to others. Authentically, he helps Bay Area JA students get the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices.”

In his five years as chairman of the board of Junior Achievement of Northern California, Dimech’s contributions have been transformational. During his tenure, he has partnered with JA USA to improve their volunteer recruitment process, navigated the uncertainty of COVID by finding new ways to engage corporate partners, and led by example mentoring students both in person and virtually. He’s one of the organization’s top individual donors and he does whatever it takes to make sure his board and the JA staff are recognized and heard. And he does all this while also managing a team of 5,600 at AT&T!

Junior Achievement’s entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness programs are delivered nationwide—typically in classrooms during the school day, by volunteer role models from the local business community.
