Education Program Manager

The Education Program Manager leads the successful implementation and expansion of Junior Achievement (JA) programs across Oakland area schools and community-based settings. This role is deeply embedded in partnership with Oakland Unified School District (OUSD), school-site leaders, educators, and workforce partners to deliver high-quality financial literacy, career readiness, and workforce pathway programs.

Area: 80% Oakland (OUSD & community sites) | 20% Walnut Creek / Fremont
Reports to: Head of Future Bound Experiences
Status: Full-Time, Salaried

In this role, you will:

Expand access to career-connected learning for Oakland area students, particularly those from historically underserved communities.
Deliver programs that help students build financial capability, career awareness, and workplace readiness.
Connect classrooms to volunteers, employers, and mentors who bring real-world relevance to learning.


This position directly advances JA NorCal’s mission to prepare young people (ages 5–25) for success in a global economy through experiential, workforce-aligned education.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Oakland area Program Implementation & Partnership Management
- Lead delivery of JA programs across OUSD area schools and community partner sites.
- Serve as primary liaison to school administrators, educators, and district stakeholders.
- Align program implementation with school schedules, instructional priorities, and student needs.
- Support integration with career pathways, work-based learning, and college/career readiness initiatives.


2. Relationship Building & Expansion
- Build and sustain strong partnerships with OUSD, school sites, community-based organizations, and workforce partners.
- Identify and onboard new school and partner sites in Oakland, with an emphasis on equity and access.
- Maintain regular communication and provide high-touch support to educators and partners.
- Represent JA NorCal in Oakland-based networks, coalitions, and events.


3. Volunteer & Employer Engagement
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers from the local business community.
- Coordinate volunteer placement in classrooms and programs.
- Engage employers to support career exposure, mentoring, and work-based learning experiences.
- Ensure volunteers are prepared, supported, and aligned with program goals,


4. Program Quality, Training & Support
- Ensure fidelity to JA program models and high-quality student experiences.
- Facilitate training sessions for educators, volunteers, and partners.
- Provide curriculum materials, coaching, and ongoing support to program stakeholders.
- Monitor program delivery and troubleshoot implementation challenges.


5. Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Track program participation, outcomes, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Maintain accurate program data in internal systems (Microsoft 365).
- Contribute to reporting requirements for district, public, and philanthropic partners.
- Use data to drive continuous improvement and inform program strategy.


6. Cross-Team Collaboration
- Partner with Development and Marketing teams to support storytelling, grant deliverables, and partner engagement.
- Contribute Oakland insights to strategic planning and program growth (Vision 2028).
- Support special initiatives such as JA Finance Park Pop-Ups, workforce pathway programs, and pilot models.

Qualifications (required)

- 2+ years of experience in education, youth programs, partnership development, or community engagement.
- Demonstrated experience working with K–12 schools or school districts (experience with OUSD strongly preferred).
- Strong relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders (educators, students, community partners, employers).
- Experience coordinating programs, events, or partnerships with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, community-facing role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.

Qualifications (desired)

- Bachelor’s degree in education, business, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Oakland Unified School District structures, priorities, or Linked Learning pathways.
- Experience in workforce development, career readiness, or financial literacy programming.
- Experience with data tracking systems (e.g., Microsoft 365) and program evaluation.
- Knowledge of the Oakland/East Bay business and community landscape.
- Bilingual or culturally responsive experience working with diverse student populations.

Additional Requirements
- Valid California driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel regularly within Oakland and the East Bay.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds and support on-site program logistics as needed.
